I want one...

Flyin'

I’m currently 39946 feet above Thunder Bay. Western Ontario is much more enjoyable from this altitude than driving through. Most people, myself included, seem to start their blog entries with “Sorry I haven’t blogged in forever, but I’ve been really busy.” I’m going to try and stop that. Everyone is always really busy, so I probably don’t have to tell you that.

I’m on my way to Calgary. I have a conference there that I wasn’t sure would happen until a few hours before I left. There was a huge communication breakdown – I’ll leave it at that. Everyone in my office has been working crazy hours to plan high quality conferences, so let’s hope everything goes well.

With all the stuff going on I haven’t had any time to plan anything for my non-work time in Calgary. I’m going to take a few days off following the conference, and I really need it. All you Calgary folks: please give me a call or an email. I’d love to see as many people as I can while I’m home. I’m quite lucky, as we have our first big conference of the year at the U of C as well in June, so I’ll get to come out West again.

I’m planning on going to Newfoundland at the end of July to take my actual vacation. Barb’s parents are supposedly bringing their car out to give to her this summer. If so we’re going to drive to Newfoundland together. It’s a beautiful drive, and we’d like to spend some time in the Maritimes for vacation as well. If any of you haven’t spent time in Atlantic Canada, you are really missing out. I have an obvious bias towards Newfoundland, but PEI is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Driving will also allow us to bring our mountain bikes and allow us to have a vehicle to use while in Twillingate. The car is not a certainty though, and I’m starting to get a little anxious that I should buy a plane ticket anyway just to be safe.

As I have not blogged in a while, here’s a list of things I have been up to:
-Went to the Liberal Convention in
Ottawa (as an observer of course)
-We had a very successful conference in
Halifax
-Went to the Conservative Convention in
Montreal
-Have enjoyed being a big poli sci geek talking about election possibilities
-Have not enjoyed being a government relations official talking about election possibilities

Go west young man

I missed another BSD, how sad. Perhaps a night of debauchery tonight with Kotarski will help. That, and I will be in Calgary next weekend. That's right, more details to follow.

Who's right?

pat

So, Robbie may have broke the Mr. Warrior story, but I found another American right-winger. That's right, Pat Sajak. Apparently we should care what a gameshow host thinks about politics. Unfortunately it's not nearly as raving or humorous as the (Ultimate) Warrior.

Today

And it begins...
