Dangerous game

So, the separatists are giving a shout out to the Prime Minister for helping them with their plans. Way to go Stevie boy (via Calgary Grit):

"If he delivers and Quebec has a voice, let's say at UNESCO, that [would be] good for a sovereign Quebec in the future. All the sovereigntists are supporting the fact Quebec is having an international presence in the francophone summit. This is a plus not only for the sovereigntists, but for Quebec. It's preparing us for the day [when] we'll be a sovereign country and be present everywhere. So the more we're present, the better it is, so we'll support that."

Newfie Crime Ring!

Only in Newfoundland could there be a vast undercover crime ring engaging in the nefarious sale of illegal products for... up to $4?

I think it's a little too late for Emerson to rescue himself...

Aftermath

So, last night was my birthday celebrations. Only four people (including Barb and I) signed up for laser tag, so it didn't happen. I'm hoping to reschedule it for some time in April, as I think it would be tonnes of fun. We spent the whole night at The Whiskey instead, which was a lot of fun. There was excellent turnout, so a big thanks to all my ottawa friends. You guys rock.

Many (many) drinks were purchased for me last night. Several were of the punishing 'drop a drink into another drink and then chug them both' variety. Either my friends were kinder with me, or I've built up a tolerance over the past year, because I arrived home in a much better state than last year.

I went with Rob today to visit a tailor who comes into town every so often and ordered 3 shirts. I've never had a custom shirt made, but Rob spoke highly of them. I have trouble finding shirts that are slim enough to fit me, but have arms long enough, so hopefully these will be good.

Still no iPod decision.

iDilemma

So, I mentioned that Barb got me the 30Gb iPod for my birthday. I have a dilemma, though. Here are my options:

1) Use my birthday money and upgrade to the 60Gb. If you're gonna go big, you might as well go big right? Having all my music in one place would be great. I wouldn't use the video feature a lot (I walk to work) but it would be quite nice when I travel.

2) Downgrade to the Nano. I used to be an iPod hater, but design-wise the Nano is just great. It's soooo tiny. I currently haul around an MP3 CD player with an in-line remote, so I appreciate portability. Not that the regular iPod is't portable, but throwing the Nano in your pocket just seems so convenient. And with 4Gb I wouldn't have to swap music out every day or anything.

3)Wait for the rumoured April 1st announcement of the 'next' iPod - the iPod Video. It's already been rumoured to be announced a couple times, but hasn't. It would suck to buy one only to have a better one come out a few weeks later.

4) Just keep the 30Gigger.

Advice?

Birthdayed!! (^)

So, today is my birthday. 27 was supposed to be my rockstar year, but, well, that didn't really pan out. It was a pretty crappy year overall, so here's to being 28! 28 is special in that it is the 10th anniversary of my 18th birthday. Here's to 10 years of legal beer! Jeers to being closer to 30!

I had a pretty laid-back birthday. Bob Wright was in town for a few days and I had lots of dinners-out and drinking. I'm celebrating officially on Friday, so today was pretty chill. The office bought me a cake that was unrealistically chocolatey. I now have diabetes. Presents-wise, the grandparents and my dad got me cash, Robbie got me comic anthologies (Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes!), and Barb got be Howl's Moving Castle and Totoro - AND a 30Gb iPod!!! (more on the iPod later).

Tomorrow I'm laser tagging. Check out the site for awesome techno beats action. Then on to an only semi-chachi dance bar for traditional alcohol-fueled funness. Now, however, Barb and I are going to watch Howl, which should be awesome.
