It's time, baby

So, I'm sitting here in Okotoks trying to blog on an old iMac with dial-up internet. Yesterday it was a balmy 24 degrees. Right now? SNOW. Oh, Alberta.

So, I could blog about the Sens & Flames games last night, or partying on 17th. Vut instead I will inform you that a certain someone is in the hospital, and it's not a false alarm this time. At least we hope... I'll keep you posted! o

Oilers win

Finally, congrats Edmonton. Bed time...

Flames Win

Flames Game was awesome. Kipper was on fire, and whatever passing drills Sutter's been running he should keep it up. Watching McCarty snag another goal was awesome too. Bring on game 4. And who has game 5 tickets for me?

Sens win

Well, it obviously goes without saying, but the Sens game was awesome. Watched it at a sports bar with some friends. CBC seems to think the Edmonton game is more important, so back home for the Calgary game.

Canadiens win

I hope everyone watched the Habs' overtime victory last night. I didn't even plan on watching the game, but I haven't seen a game that enjoyable in a long time.

And.... back to the politics

When you wait this long shouldn't you have a website up? Especially when this brilliant site is launched on the same day?

Liveblogging the Canadiens

Montreal at Carolina
8:00 remaining Second Period

I find myself in agreement with Don Cherry. Carolina keeps "lobbying" the refs and whining about plays trying to get calls made. Pansies. Let the refs call the plays, do you think they'll be influenced by whining players?

Playoffs thus far

We had a party on Friday for the opening of the playoffs. In an enjoyable 6 hours of hockey both our teams won! Oddly enough no one showed up until the Calgary game but then the Man Den was packed with hockey fans.

While there was enjoyable hockey last night with much comefrombehindedness sadly both the Flames and Senators lost. I won't make excuses - both teams can and should play better than that, and for a whole game, not just in bursts. The reffing in the Ottawa game seemed very inconsistent with the rest of the playoffs though (see the Calgary game) and they didn't seem to be calling much.

I'm one of those rare Calgarians that likes it when the Oilers do well, so it was nice to see Edmonton beat Detroit. It annoys me when I read that they upset Detroit. They did not upset them - they beat them. They're an excellent hockey team and that will be shown in this series.

And the envelope please...

Ok, here are my predictions. I know I went with a couple of pro-Canadian upsets in the first round. I would have liked to put all Canadian teams through to the conference finals. I'm pretty confident, although I think Buffalo or New Jersey could easily move on too.

Bring on the boxed wine

I must apologize, as of late this blog has been overly-focused on politics. Henceforth it will be overly-focused on hockey. The playoffs mean long hours spent inside out of the sun supping on healthy beverages.

Luv or love?

From Maggie:
google the phrase "i love (your name) because" and post your five favorites
I just went with the only four I could find that were male. Call me gender-focused...

  • I love Toby because he doesn't compare to any other man on earth and his music and videos helped me through alot of rough times.
  • I love Toby because hes so cool!!
  • I love Toby because he has a nice ass and tangly hair.
  • I love Toby because he's very opinionated, very outspoken...he's found a direction that people are very passionate about, some people don't like Toby but there's a whole lot more of them that do.

Sick Day

I was ungodly sick yesterday and took my first sick day in probably 4 years. Many people seem to find it funny to ask if it was the result of a hangover. Do I have a reputation for being a Sunday binge-drinker that I'm not aware of?

Presto

What's more shocking than Klein's 55% leadership review? This.
